YG, Serayah, And J Alphonse Nicholson Join Cast For New Horror Movie, ‘Goons’
The cast for the upcoming horror film Goons is shaping up nicely. It’s been confirmed that YG, Serayah, and J Alphonse Nicholson have all been added to the star-studded lineup. They join previously announced stars, Michael Rainey Jr., Chloe Bailey, SteVonté Hart, and Tyler Lepley.
Helmed by First Purge director Gerard McMurray, the film’s set and production takes place in New Orleans and its surrounding area due to the “eerie backdrop of the state’s cane fields and plantations.”
When speaking on the newest additions to the cast, McMurray told The Hollywood Reporter, “YG, J. Alphonse, Serayah, SteVonté, and Tyler all bring their own unique flavor to this amazing recipe we are cooking up on Goons here in my hometown of New Orleans. I can’t wait for the world to see what we are putting together with this young, gifted cast.”
McMurray is producing the film with Tommy Oliver via Confluential Films under its New Fear Unlocked Productions, which is “a new genre label dedicated to bold, elevated, culturally specific horror films from creators of color.”
Oliver, who’s fully financing the feature, added, “I can’t wait for audiences to see what Gerard and I are cooking up with the kick-ass squad we’ve assembled. I also couldn’t be more excited to kick off New Fear Unlocked with this film from such a talented director.”
McMurray described Goons as “a love letter to my hometown of New Orleans, and a deeply personal story for me.”
First-look photos and a release date have yet to be shared.
