Wendy Williams Remains Positive As Health Exam Results Upheld Guardianship

Just one week after a medical exam upheld her court-appointed guardianship, Wendy Williams is speaking out.

“My attorneys are highly upset,” Williams declared to Page Six. She didn’t address her conservator, but added, “I want to say hi to my attorneys, Allan Diamond and Joe Tacopina. I will get out of [this] guardianship.”

Last week, PEOPLE reported that Williams has been formally diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia. She was first diagnosed back in 2023.

An attorney for Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, requested an extension for Judge Sokoloff until Nov. 3 to determine if the guardianship is still necessary. The unnamed attorney also mentioned that “complications have arisen due to various parties— including counsel for certain members of [Williams’] family, [Williams’] ex-husband, and others— have indicated their intention to challenge both the Guardianship itself as well as Ms. Morrissey’s status as Guardian.”

Williams was placed under guardianship in 2022 after her assets were frozen. Her health has been analyzed countless times since she left her eponymous talk show in 2020 because of a Graves’ disease diagnosis and other health concerns. She was sent to reside in an assisted living facility for the past two years before she left in March 2025.

In the 2024 Lifetime documentaryWhere Is Wendy Williamsother issues were brought to light including memory lapses, erratic behavior, and alleged alcohol misuse. ID Channel released their documentary, Trapped: What is Happening to Wendy Williams, earlier this year.

The film delves deeper into the “#FreeWendy movement and the current push by Williams’ fans and loved ones to have her released from the guardianship she has been under since 2022,” according to the network.
