Ryan Garcia Goes On Bizarre Rant Following Hospitilization And Arrest For Felony Vandalism
Ryan Garcia has called out for public support following the boxer’s hospitalization amid a recent arrest for felony vandalism.
Garcia went on a bizarre social media tirade following the arrest, which stemmed from an incident at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, in which Garcia allegedly caused damage to a hotel room and hallway. According to reports, on Saturday (June 8), police responded to a call about an “intoxicated person” at the hotel, which turned out to be Garcia.
The boxer was arrested and later transported a local hospital for emergency care, with Garcia alleging that he was being held against his will. “I’m worried,” the 25-year-old wrote on X. “I have to be at this weird hospital and they are trying to give me medicine and they have me on a hold for who knows how long, they will determine.”
The former lightweight contender continued, asking fans to “pray” for him, concluding his message by adding, “God help me.” Garcia, who recently revealed his mother’s breast cancer diagnosis, also thanked his fans for standing behind him, in spite of his erratic behavior and ongoing controversies.
“It’s always love. Thanks to my fans for always supporting me,” he wrote in another post. “[Y’all] know I’ve been dealing with incredible stress, pressure and now the devastating news of my mom’s health. Love and compassion wins. Always.”
Garcia’s arrest came days after Los Angeles police conducted a wellness check at the pugilist’s hotel room after receiving a phone call from a family member concerned about Garcia’s well-being. However, upon their visit, police determined that Garcia was not a harm to himself or others, and left the premises.
The polarizing prize fighter has been engulfed in controversy dating back to the lead-up to his bout against light-welterweight champion Devin Haney in April, which he won via majority decision. Following the fight, Garcia was found to have tested positive for multiple banned substances prior to the fight, which he later attributed to contaminated supplements he took while training for the bout.
Haney has since requested to overturn the defeat to a disqaulifcation on grounds that Garcia tested positive for performance enhancing drugs.
