Pam Grier, Luke James, And Deborah Ayorinde Star In Chilling ‘Them: The Scare’ Trailer: Watch
“Imagine what might happen, what might be available to you if fear were not an option.” A voice narrates this to Luke James‘ character, Edmund, in the official trailer for the new horror anthology, Them: The Scare. In the nearly three-minute preview, Shanice’s “I Love Your Smile” plays in the background, juxtaposing the heinous crime scene and unsettling trailer overall.
As previously announced, the series centers around Detective Dawn Reeve (Deborah Ayorinde), who’s tasked with unpacking the murder of a foster home mother in a case that’s riddled even the most-hardened detectives in Los Angeles circa 1991.
Her colleague, Joaquin (Carlito Olivero), feels the deaths are personal, but her boss doesn’t want to further heighten the anxiety in L.A. by declaring a serial killer is on the loose. “No human is capable of that kind of evil,” one woman pleads.
Though Dawn is determined to stop the cold-blooded murderer, something more sinister is afoot as an ominous presence haunts her, her family, and those involved. Dawn asks Joaquin if he believes in God; he agrees before also noting that this case is causing him to believe in the devil, too.
The series also stars Pam Grier, Joshua J. Williams, Jeremy Bobb, Wayne Knight, Charles Brice, and Iman Shumpert.
THEM series creator Little Marvin shared in a statement, “With THEM: The Scare, we wanted to combine our love of horror with a look at Los Angeles’s rich history and evolution. This second installment is a new story set in the 90s, one of the most iconic decades for film, music, and fashion, particularly in Los Angeles.
“I’m also excited about our amazing cast: Deborah Ayorinde returns as a completely new character, Luke James delivers an unforgettable performance, and the legendary Pam Grier, who has played so many iconic and beloved roles on screen, makes her return to horror…. We couldn’t have asked for a more fearless group to lead this second installment.”
All eight episodes will be available on April 25 on Prime Video. Watch the full trailer above.
