MC Lyte’s Powerful Storytelling Honored At SEED Summit+ Awards
MC Lyte‘s dynamic storytelling was honored at the inaugural SEED Summit+ Awards. The legendary emcee, née Lana Michele Moorer, was celebrated on Sunday (Mar. 24) at the Hotel 1 in Los Angeles.
Industry veteran Valeisha Butterfield, founder of the media company, spoke about honoring Lyte and other creatives for their passion for telling stories and offered a statement regarding the inaugural commemoration.
“The power of storytelling transforms lives, and as we celebrate this tremendous milestone with our inaugural SEED Summit + Awards, the culture stands together for the launch of SEED,” Butterfield expressed. “Illuminating the most iconic stories and people of our generation is our mission as we plant seeds into the next generation of creators, storytellers, leaders, and professionals following in our footsteps.”
MC Lyte later thanked Butterfield and the other SEED folks for the honor and detailed how “grateful” she is to be celebrated for her contributions to the culture.
“Thank you, @valeisha, and the Hello Seed Awards for the wonderful honor. My sister @lynnrichardson and I are forever grateful for your love and acknowledgment. Thank you @devonfranklin for being a part of a memorable evening for Lynn and I. God bless your journey. And a big congratulations to all the honorees! A beautiful night indeed!!”
Ahead of the night, MC Lyte and financial expert Dr. Lynn Richardson both offered a statement regarding Valeisha Butterfield’s commitment to celebrating and “elevating culture.” “Valeisha’s entire life and career have been dedicated to elevating the culture, so to be recognized with this inaugural award, we’re humbled and grateful. We commit to continuing to plant seeds into the next generation of creators and artists.”
The inaugural SEED Summit+ Awards also honored Massah David and Miatta Johnson, founders of the creative agency MVD Inc., and financial expert Dr. Lynn Richardson. LeToya Luckett, Bryan-Michael Cox, and Estelle also participated in the event.
According to Billboard, Butterfield founded SEED in 2020. SEED initially began as “masterclasses to inspire creators, executives, and performers.” It has since evolved into an award show and the SEED Book Club, which “produces best-selling books for television and film adaptation through SEED Entertainment and SEED Wellbeing.”
