Kalan.FrFr Hosts 4th Annual TwoFr Day Compton Community Give-Back

Kalan.FrFr united Compton, Calif. this Sunday afternoon (Aug. 18) at his fourth annual TwoFr Day, a yearly event celebrating the community with food, fun, and freebies ahead of the school year.

The crowd gathered on the quad at Compton College as the sun glared down from a cloud-free sky. Cliques of teenagers teamed up for full-fit pics as the younger guests flocked to the face-painting station.

Parents looked on as excited children of all ages were able to snag school supplies, toys, shoes, and more from sponsors including True Religion, adidas, JP Morgan Chase Bank, AT&T, EOS, Celsius, and Ethika. Additionally, Kalan and his entire team received proclamations from the Compton Unified School District.

Hosted by Storm DeBarge with DJ Carisma spinning today’s trending songs and classic hits, the party evolved as Kalan.Frfr’s arrival was teased.  After the audience was hyped by a performance from Tommy The Clown and the T Squad, the 29-year-old musician arrived in a fresh, all-white get-up, his gleaming energy still carrying over from the night before.

Before popping out for the community, the Compton/Carson native performed his first headlining act in nearly 2-years in his hometown at The Palladium. He used the opportunity to not only perform his fan favorites, but also invite special guests including Bino Rideaux, G Perico, and Dom Kennedy to the stage. Both events together established the first Two.Fr weekend.

“It sparked the flame. It solidified a lot for me, solidified a lot for me. I needed it,” the artist detailed to VIBE after taking the stage at TwoFr day. “I got to bring the city out. You know what I mean? You got to do it, you got to do it right. It makes me feel great because it’s like, ‘Man, these are my people.’ It’s love all the time.”

For Kalan.FrFr, the two days of music and outreach signify growth, both echoing the Make The West Great Again challenge issued in his May 2023 project, released via Roc Nation to amplify and uplift West Coast artists, movements, and culture.  The “Everybody” performer plans to continue evolving, both as a performer and with 2FR Day, with goals of expanding to larger venues in Los Angeles, as well as potential global expansion.

“Seeing all the kids being excited when we we’re on stage, [and] the mayor, continuing to tell me to keep putting this on and keep doing this, it’s just knowing that I got their support to standing behind me a hundred percent,” he reflected of his favorite moments. Envisioning the 10th annual 2FR day, he added, “bringing out bigger artists for the kids, more sponsors, more stuff getting donated, raising more money, just helping more people, being able to touch more people. I want it to be capacity unlimited one day. They got to let us use the stadium. We bringing out the whole city, people flying in for this.”

He continued to detail, “I’m just thankful I’m able to do it, and honestly that’s all I can sum it up to be, thankful.”
