LeToya Luckett Is Married, Wed Entrepreneur Taleo Coles In Private Ceremony
LeToya Luckett is now a married woman!
The singer revealed in a digital cover story with ESSENCE that she and Taleo Coles wed in a private ceremony in Houston officiated by DeVon Franklin with roughly 200 guests including Tina Knowles, Toya Wright-Rushing, LaTavia Roberson, Bun B, and Terrell Grice, ready to celebrate their love.
“I feel like our story is one of hope,” Luckett said to the outlet. “For the single moms who might doubt that love and a blended family are possible, I hope our journey shows them that it’s never too late to find happiness and build something beautiful.”
Coles describes himself on his private Instagram as an “entrepreneur, explorer [and] cultured.” His sister LaToya told ESSENCE, “He’s always been so kind and giving. He’s the person we call when we need something.” When speaking about his relationship with the former Destiny’s Child member, she added, “When he wasn’t home for the holidays, that’s when I knew it was serious. I was sad to see him leave, but I’m so very happy for him at the same time.”
The couple shared a mutual friend, Alexis “Lex” White, for two decades before they decided to explore a romantic union. In 2022, Luckett was divorcing her second husband, Tommicus Walker, and Coles was in a relationship.
Yet, everything changed on Sept. 18 of that year. The singer prayed for a “heart that was complete and whole” and discovered that Coles was single.
White recalled, “We were on a girls trip to Sedona […] and we’re having a conversation, and she said, ‘Well let me just see what he looks like.’” Luckett told White, “‘So this has been your friend all this time, he looks like this, he has all these great qualities.’”
As their bond deepened, Coles forged one with her two children as well. “The kids call us true love,” Luckett gushed while she calls him “my best friend, my homie.” They sealed their vows with a kiss to Outkast and UGK’s classic, “International Players Anthem.” It was an intentional choice for the newlyweds who noted, “throughout their budding relationship, the couple always knew that no matter what, they could promise each other, ‘I choose you.’”
