Don Omar Reveals His Cancer Diagnosis: “See You Soon”
Don Omar has revealed that he has been diagnosed with cancer, news the music star shared with his fans on social media.
On Monday morning (June 17), the Puerto Rican hitmaker shared a photo of his hospital wristband on Instagram. The wristband indicated that the photo was taken during Omar’s visit at a medical center in Orlando.
In the post’s caption, the “Good Girl” artist acknowledged his diagnosis, but expressed his optimism despite his current bill of health.
“Today yes, but tomorrow I won’t have cancer,” the 46-year-old wrote in Spanish. “Good intentions are well received. See you soon. #f**kcancer.”
It’s unclear of when Don Omar received his diagnosis or what stage and type of cancer he’s battling.
Don Omar’s announcement took many fans by surprise, as the veteran spent the first half of 2024 embarking on his Back to Reggaetón Tour, which included 20 dates, grossed $17.8 million, and sold 146,000 tickets over its first 14 shows (through April 7), according to Billboard Boxscore.
This past weekend, Don Omar shared footage of a dance group auditioning to perform on the upcoming second leg of his Back to Reggaetón Tour, which announced midway through the initial run of his comeback trek.
“The most special thing about today’s auditions is seeing that there are people who want to dare to dream with me,” he captioned the post, which was shared to his Instagram account on Saturday (June 15). “Thank you to each of you who gave your all on the dance floor! This second stage of the tour comes with everything.”
The second half of the Back To Reggaetón Tour is set to begin Aug. 7 in Oakland, Ca. and will include stops in San Diego; Portland, Ore.; Tampa, Fla.; Ontario, Calif., and Elmont, N.Y.
The Back To Reggaetón Tour marks Don Omar’s first headlining tour in a decade.
