Rapper Shiva Sentenced to 3 Years and 6 Months Following 2023 Brawl

The Italian rap scene is reeling following the sentencing of the artist known as Shiva. The rapper has been handed a prison term of three years and six months by the magistrate of the Ascoli Piceno court, Barbara Caponetti, following an abbreviated trial regarding a violent brawl that occurred in San Benedetto del Tronto on August 30, 2023.

The legal proceedings centered on accusations that the rapper stabbed individuals during the incident. According to reports from Resto Del Carlino, Shiva had previously testified before a judge for preliminary investigations in Ascoli. During his testimony, he maintained that he was staying at a local B&B with four associates while in the area for a scheduled performance. He claimed that the situation escalated when three individuals began throwing stones at the windows of their accommodation. Shiva stated that he and his group confronted the individuals in the street, leading to a physical altercation that resulted in the three local men sustaining stab wounds.

The court’s decision also extended to those involved in the incident alongside the rapper. His associates—Boris Bentil, Patrick Raimo, and Simone Dannis Alvaro Recrosio—were each sentenced to three years and two months of imprisonment. The ruling marks a significant development in a case that has drawn considerable attention within the Italian music industry.
