Kanye West accuses Adidas of selling fake Yeezys

Kanye West has accused Adidas of selling “fake Yeezys,” using his name on unapproved colorways and wrongfully suing him over business differences.

The rapper expressed his disapproval of the way Adidas is moving on social media, claiming that the company is taking advantage of him and calling the new release “trivial”.

Anyone who loves Ye wouldn’t buy these fake Yeezys, I never made these colors, I don’t get paid for this and Adidas is suing me“, West wrote on Instagram.

West then posted a follow-up video in which he explains his position further. “Let me explain to you very clearly what is happening now with Adidas. Not only are they releasing fake colorways that were never approved, but they’re also suing me for $250 million and they’re not even paying me for these shoes that they’re releasing that have my name on them. They are using contract clauses and 50 years of business experience to rape an artist, one of your favorite artists, right in front of you in broad daylight”.

Kanye and Adidas announced their first collaboration in 2013 and have since worked together for nearly a decade. They have released successful collaborations such as NMD, Ultra Boost and Yeezy. The long collaboration ended in October 2022 after Ye made repeated anti-Semitic comments.

On that occasion, Adidas said that it “does not tolerate anti-Semitism and any other type of hate speech” and that the rappers’ comments were “unacceptable, hateful and dangerous”. Adidas also said the comments violated the company’s “values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”
