Young Thug Caught Sleeping During RICO Trial Court Session
Young Thug‘s RICO saga has been going on for two years, and it appears that Thugga is tiiiiied. A recent clip went viral on Wednesday (Aug. 7), with the rapper present in another day at court. While his lawyer, Brian Steel, speaks to the judge, the camera slowly begins to pan out—The Office style—showing the Atlanta rapper taking a quick little nap.
Fans immediately sounded off on the video, offering jokes and humor at the all-too-relatable video. “Cause they dragging this trial baddddd. That man is tired,” one fan commented on the video. “Ion blame him. I’m tired for him. Please let that man go on about his business,” another account typed. “They prolly woke that man up at 4am to be at court at 9. Let bro shleep!” a man quipped.
Young Thug and his YSL co-defendants were originally indicted in 2022. The longest jury selection in history followed this indictment, lasting for 10 months, before the trial finally got underway in November 2023. With the trial still trudging along, it is now the longest in Georgia’s history.
It’s been dragging on so long that former President Donald Trump has seemingly taken issue with Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis.
During an appearance on Adin Ross’ live stream on Monday (Aug. 5), Ross asked Trump about Thug, who has been in court for two years after being arrested for RICO charges. The kick streamer expressed his desire to see the Atlanta rapper be free and “treated fair,” saying, “So, um, I know Fani Willis treated you very unfairly. I have a friend who’s currently being treated unfairly by her. He’s a rapper named Young Thug.”
Trump agreed with Ross’ assertion and doubled down, referring to Thugga as a “patriot.” “I heard that, actually,” Trump answered. “So, I’ve heard about him, and I’ve heard he’s being treated very unfairly by [DA Willis], and I would tell her she’s gotta treat these patriots that are being all—it’s terrible. They’re going after them… He’s gotta be treated fairly.”
