Young Thug Announces “Hometown Hero” Benefit Concert In Atlanta For This Winter
Young Thug is ready to get back on stage in his beloved city, Atlanta. The 34-year-old rapper announced his “Hometown Hero” benefit concert for this upcoming winter.
The show will emanate from State Farm Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 16. Tickets go on sale this Wednesday (Oct. 8) via Ticketmaster. “Hometown Hero” is in support of King Slime’s latest album Uy Scuti. He released the 21-song LP on Sept. 26 with features from Cardi B, Travis Scott, Future, Lil Baby, and YN Lucci.
He later added “Spider Or Jeffery” featuring Quavo, and then, one week later, put out the “Supernova Edition” of the album. He added seven more tracks on that version, namely a posthumous collaboration with Lil Keed titled “I Put A,” and the long-awaited “Safe.” Fans can expect to hear many of these songs, plus his classics, at the show on Dec. 16.
This benefit concert is in alignment with the plea deal Thug took in October 2024, after being in jail for over two years for RICO allegations. His 15-year probation sentence banned him from his hometown, only making exceptions for specific events such as free concerts for fans and charitable purposes.
Thugger took advantage of that at the end of September with a performance outside of the Fulton County Courthouse. Footage surfaced online showing him performing “Digits,” greeting fans, and signing autographs. “We got rid of our problems and I hope you find a way to get rid of yours,” he said during the show. “Life is precious, so I just want everybody to be better. Even if its worth something, it’s not worth losing people. It’s not worth living that type of life.”
The Fulton County Sheriff’s office described the concert as, “an anti-violence, anti-gun, and anti-gang rally.” Sheriff Patrick Labat fully supported the endeavor, saying, “Our community benefits if these powerful words touch just one young man or woman and keep them out of the court system and the Fulton County Jail.” Watch below.
