Wendy Williams Makes Appearance At Son’s College Graduation Amid Health Issues
Wendy Williams was spotted at her son Kevin Hunter Jr.’s college graduation on Thursday (Dec. 19) as she continues her battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and primary progressive aphasia (PPA).
In photographs obtained and shared by The U.S. Sun, the former television host attended the commencement ceremony at Florida International University, using a mobility scooter among the crowd. According to the outlet, additional family members were in attendance at the milestone event including her father Thomas Williams Sr., 93, who was escorted via wheelchair by her sister Wanda Finnie.
The appearance comes days after the 60-year-old was seen enjoying time with family and picking up an order from the Sisa Sara’s Shonuff Oysters restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Both moments are after her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina E. Morrissey claimed the famed broadcaster is “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated,” last month.
Williams’ ex-husband has countered Morrisey in a separate filing. According to The Root, earlier this week, Kevin Hunter filed a Grievance Committee complaint against Morrisey alleging that Morrissey has been purporting herself to be his ex-wife’s legal guardian but has also allegedly been practicing law in the state of New Jersey without having a license.
“Ms. Morrissey is not and has not been legally appointed as Guardian of my ex-wife in New Jersey, yet Ms. Morrissey has filed motions, cross-motions, and responses to motions, as well as testified in court in a jurisdiction that she has no legal standing,” assert the documents. “Ms. Morrissey is practicing law without a license in the State of New Jersey.”
In response, Morrisey explained that she was granted the role of guardianship through a New York Supreme Court judge, per The Root, declaring, “I have never appeared as an attorney in any Court for my ward, Wendy Williams Hunter.”
