VP Kamala Harris Debunks Rumors Regarding Janet And Michael Jackson: “It’s Not True”
In a captivating interview on Tuesday (Oct. 15) with Charlamagne Tha God, Vice President Kamala Harris set the record straight regarding rumors about Janet Jackson’s presidential support and prosecuting the legendary Michael Jackson.
With aim to strengthen her appeal among Black men as Election Day approaches (Nov. 5), the conversation took a turn when Charlamagne brought up: “There’s a rumor that Janet Jackson is mad at you because you prosecuted her brother, the late, great Michael Jackson. Clear that up for people.”
Harris quickly squashed the speculation, stating, “That’s just not true,” prompting a chuckle from The Breakfast Club host who responded with, “I know.” Harris added, “On either count.” When pressed about whether Janet Jackson was indeed upset with her, Harris replied, “Well, I mean, I don’t know. I haven’t talked to her. But certainly, it’s not true about her brother.”
For context, Michael Jackson faced serious charges in 2003 including child molestation, while Harris was serving as the San Francisco district attorney from 2004 to 2011. However, she asserted she had no direct involvement in his case.
As far as Janet, she recently stirred the pot in an interview with The Guardian, where she incorrectly suggested that Harris’ father is white. “Well, you know what they supposedly said? She’s not Black,” Jackson claimed. “That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian.” However, when corrected about Harris’ mixed heritage, Janet doubled down on her stance, leading to more confusion and controversy.
“Her father’s white. That’s what I was told,” she continued. “I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white.”
Mo Elmasri, who claimed to be Jackson’s manager, released a statement asserting that Janet’s comments were “based on misinformation.” However, the Velvet Rope icon’s representatives countered his statement to Variety, revealing that Elmasri was unauthorized to speak on her behalf.
The alleged manager also told the outlet, “I no longer work for Janet” after claiming to be dismissed for his attempts to reshape her public image. “This is something I do not deserve,” he added.
