Usher, Stevie Wonder Wow 2025 Met Gala Attendees With Surprise Performances

The 2025 Met Gala was Black, bold, beautiful, and everything in between.

“I want to say one thing, they done f**ked up and made the Met Ball Black,” joked stylist Law Roach ahead of fashion’s biggest night. Teyana Taylor, Savannah James, Cardi B, Laura Harrier, Angela Bassett, Rihanna, and Zendaya were among those who turned heads and both effortlessly and successfully embodied the theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” as it relates to the “cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism.”

Megan Thee Stallion and Questlove gave non-attendees a special glimpse into what actually goes on at the gala beyond the red carpet— showcasing the appetizers, choral performances, and epic bathroom selfies. However, it was the Met itself who gave us the real show as the museum shared footage of the surprise performances from Usher and Stevie Wonder.

Usher blessed the audience with a taste of his Past Present Future tour. Performing “Yeah,” “U Don’t Have To Call,” and “OMG,” the crooner topped his vibrant set off with a cherry— given to Sabrina Carpenter.

Stevie Wonder performed classics including “Higher Ground” and the men even appeared onstage together. It’s unclear if they serenaded the crowd with a duet, but we’re assuming they gave guests their money’s worth. Back in September when Usher brought his tour to Los Angeles, Wonder came out as a special guest and the two gave a heartwarming rendition of “Ribbon In The Sky.”
