Trey Songz Previews New Music At Private Listening Party In NYC

Trey Songz is almost ready to drop his new album. The controversial crooner hosted a private listening event in New York City on Tuesday (Aug. 5). The intimate affair featured special guests including Ray J, Nia Dorsey, Feather, DJ Clue, Maino, Fabolous, Kevin Liles, DJ Drewski, and the women in Trey’s life: his mother, April Tucker and son’s mother, Caro Colon.

It’s unclear if his new LP was played in full, but his latest drop, “Lit Again” with Ray J, Nia Dorsey, and Feather did keep the momentum high. Earlier this year, Trey released six singles: “Lonely,” “Lost In Time,” “Gimme A Chance,” “Can’t Stay Mad,” “Say The Word,” and “History” — all of which bear similar cover art images. He, however, hasn’t provided any details on his new album or when fans can expect it.

His last album was 2020’s Back Home. The album peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200, becoming his second lowest charting album, following his debut album, I Gotta Make It. Coincidentally, the latter turns 20 this year. He’s been commemorating the drop all year and formally acknowledged the milestone on Instagram.

“20 years of music and memories… I hear yall… album on the way!! Thanks for the love,” he wrote. Despite his transgressions over the past years with several claims of sexual assault and violence, fans praised the crooner’s legacy. “Trey Songz, been rocking with you since day 1. However, you came back strong. Let’s go!” one user commented.

Another replied, “I’m so proud of you fave and beyond happy to see the growth you continue to make in your legendary greatness […] I’m so excited for your next project!”
