Tory Lanez Moves To Distance Himself From Megan Thee Stallion Defamation Lawsuit

Tory Lanez has filed for a protective order to distance himself from Megan Thee Stallion‘s defamation lawsuit against blogger Milagro Gramz, legal name Milagro Cooper. According to XXL, the 33-year-old, legal name Daystar Peterson, filed the motion in the Central District Court of California on Wednesday (Sept. 24) to ” safeguard” his “rights.”
“Daystar Peterson (‘Mr. Peterson’), by counsel, respectfully moves for a Protective Order under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 26(c),” detailed the filing. “Mr. Peterson, an incarcerated non-party in Pete v. Cooper, No. 1:24-cv-24228 (S.D. Fla.), faces undue burden, prejudice to his ongoing criminal appeal, and constitutional risks if compelled to provide further deposition testimony. Relief is warranted to ensure compliance with the Federal Rules, to protect non-parties, and to safeguard Mr. Peterson’s rights.”
It continued, “For the foregoing reasons, Mr. Peterson respectfully requests that the Court grant his Motion for Protective Order, barring improper non-party deposition or, alternatively, limiting discovery consistent with the Federal Rules, Ninth Circuit precedent, and constitutional
protections.”

Earlier this week, the Houston rapper’s legal team filed a motion to have DJ Akademiks take the stand in the civil trial and disclose the identity of the anonymous source who provided him with sealed legal documents tied to the 2020 incident that resulted in Peterson being convicted of multiple gun charges. Akademiks had previously declared he would “never reveal” his source unless legally forced to “under a court order.”
Megan Thee Stallion’s lawsuit against Cooper accused the blogger of being “a mouthpiece and puppet for Mr. Peterson.” The litigation claimed Cooper would do “Mr. Peterson’s public bidding to denigrate, belittle, insult, and spread false statements about Ms. Pete on her online social media platforms, for no other reason than to bully, harass, and punish Ms. Pete for Mr. Peterson’s conviction and to tarnish her reputation, causing emotional distress.”
Cooper is also accused of sharing a deepfake pornographic video of the rapper in June 2024, claiming Megan Thee Stallion had a drinking problem, and attempting to pull information on Megan’s father.
