The Game Offers Help To LA Residents Affected By Disastrous Wildfires
The Game is extending a helping hand to families impacted by the devastating wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles. As flames continue to wreak havoc across the city, the Compton rapper took to Instagram on Wednesday (Jan. 8) to announce his efforts to provide relief for evacuees.
“Me & [talent manager Travis Wilson] are helping 10 families [affected] by the fires here get into @airbnb for a week free of charge [praying hands emoji],” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.
He urged those in need to reach out to Wilson directly, adding, “Must have an identification or driver’s license with address in the affected areas.”
The fires, fueled by dry conditions and powerful winds, erupted on Tuesday (Jan. 7) and have already claimed at least five lives, displaced over 100,000 residents, and charred thousands of acres of land.
Per Deadline, over 2,000 structures have been destroyed, making these some of the most destructive fires in LA’s history. With emergency services stretched thin, the damage is projected to exceed $50 billion. Reportedly, as of Thursday morning (Jan. 9), five major blazes remain uncontained, including a fire in the Hollywood Hills that ignited Wednesday evening.
Aside from The Game, many other celebrities and organizations have joined in to express their support for those affected. Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliott, Meek Mill, Paris Hilton, DJ DNice, Holly Robinson Peete, and more have all spoken out about the devastation happening in California right now.
