‘The Best Man’ Book Trilogy On The Way, First To Drop This Summer

Well, it looks like that hit Peacock series wasn’t the “final chapter” after all, as filmmaker Malcolm D. Lee is bringing his beloved The Best Man series to bookstores.
People broke the news Thursday (April 10) that the series’ first novel, The Best Man: Unfinished Business, co-written by Jayne Allen, is slated for release July 2025 and follows the gang after the end of the 2022 Peacock series.
“The beloved characters from The Best Man movies and hit television series reunite for a sexy and soulful, heartbreaking and hilarious reckoning of love,” reads a synopsis of the upcoming trilogy, as three tomes have been planned for release thus far. “Book one of The Best Man trilogy follows Harper, Jordan, and Robyn as they try to establish lives away from the hurts of the past and come to realize that some love is impossible to break. With support from their close-knit crew of chosen family—Quentin, Shelby, Lance, Murch, and Candace—they fight for a future that proves one’s second act can be the extended chapter worth it all.”

Day one fans will also recall that Unfinished Business was the name of protagonist Harper Stewart’s (Taye Diggs) novel that put him in compromising positions with college crush Jordan (Nia Long) and best friend, Lance Sullivan (Morris Chestnut).
“Ever since I was a kid, I have loved the written word, and I always fantasized about writing a novel,” Lee shared as he announced news of the book on him Instagram page. “And now, along with acclaimed writer and novelist Jayne Allen, I have done just that.” Check out his announcement and a peak at the cover below.
