Swizz Beatz Claims He And Alicia Keys Have “Never Argued” After 15 Years Of Marriage

Ask Swizz Beatz and he’ll tell you that his secret to a healthy, 15-year marriage is never arguing.

The rapper-producer reflected on his marriage to Alicia Keys with Us Weekly recently, and shared that the longevity of their union can be credited to friendship, communication, and choosing “not to yell at each other.”

He explained, “Marriage is definitely a big word, but look at it like your best friend. The communication is there. We’ve never had an argument. Since we’ve been together, our kids [have] never seen it; never seen us raise our voice [or] never seen us yell. Never seen us curse at each other. Why? Because of communication.”

Swizz noted, “When you yell at each other, no one is really listening anyway. Nothing gets solved in each other’s yelling.” While they do “disagree on things,” the couple choose to express their opposing views in a healthier way.

When later speaking on ownership and its impact on relationships, the 46-year-old shared, “People think they can own people. You can’t. It’s not property that you own. There’s a whole human, right? So, we’re very clear on that. She’s her own boss. I’m my own boss. That’s how we make magic when we come together. I think that helps because people start getting very territorial and making their partner property, and I think that’s the biggest mistake.”

He and Keys wed in July 2010 after initially meeting as teenagers. They share two sons: 14-year-old Egypt and 10-year-old Genesis. He’s also a father to older sons, Prince Nasir, 24, and Kaseem Jr, 18, as well as a daughter Nicole, 16.
