Remy Ma’s Son Could Face Life In Prison If Convicted In Murder For Hire Case
Remy Ma’s son, Jayson Scott, along with another man, were arraigned on Tuesday (June 25) for the fatal shooting of Darius Guillebeaux back in June 2021. Scott — who’s appeared on reality TV with his famed mother — has now been charged with first and second-degree murder, reckless endangerment and four counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
According to prosecutors, Scott is believed to have been hired to murder Guillebeaux, 47, who suffered a fatal gun shot wound. He’s also been accused of firing at the victim for a second time, as his accomplice allegedly let off two shots, as well.
If convicted, the 23-year-old could face life in prison without the possibility of parole.
“We are charging the defendants with a cold-blooded killing on a public street,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz stated. “Deadly gun violence has no place in our neighborhoods and we will remain steadfast in getting illegal guns and those who use them off the streets of Queens.”
22-year-old, Richard Swygert — who allegedly assisted Scott and was already incarcerated for a separate murder in the same year — was also charged with second-degree murder, reckless endangerment and four counts of criminal possession with a weapon. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years behind bars, aside from separate cases that he has pending.
Unable to say much due to legal reasons, Remy Ma maintained her son’s innocence and stated to TMZ, “We stand by Jayson’s innocence and pray that the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth. This is undoubtedly a difficult time for my family and me. While we sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received from all of you, we kindly ask for privacy as our legal team works to prove Jayson’s innocence.”
“As his mother, I want to address this situation personally but have been strongly advised by his legal counsel not to say anything — as most people in similar situations are informed by their attorneys due to it being an active case,” she added.
Scott appeared on a 2017 episode of Love & Hip Hop: New York, where they had an emotional moment ahead of the “Conceited” rapper walking down the aisle to marry her longtime love and rapper, Papoose.
In the episode, Rem apologized to her then-teenaged son for being away from him as she dealt with her own incarceration.
