R. Kelly Survivor Says Disgraced Singer And Diddy Are “A Lot Alike”

New TV special Impact x Nightline: Diddy: Drugs Lies & ‘Freak Offs features a woman who appeared on Surviving R. Kelly speaking to the similarities between the disgraced singer and music mogul.

In the episode, Lizzette Martinez, who claimed to be a victim of the Chocolate Factory singer, shared her own experience of meeting Diddy in the late 1990s.

“He’s like, ‘Hey, you have really pretty eyes,’ and said, ‘Hey, I’m having a party. You want to come with me?’” she recalled of their encounter. “I didn’t have a good feeling about it and I just declined. Thinking about it now, it’s like, ‘Wow, I really dodged a bullet.’”

Martinez also gave the take that she believes R. Kelly and Diddy are “a lot alike,” saying that they are both “predators” who manipulate others. “They’re dangling a career in front of you. They use the power to get you to where they want you.”

R. Kelly is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence after being convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges in 2021, much of what Diddy is facing. In 2022, the R&B crooner was also convicted of six counts of child pornography and other crimes with underage girls.

The Impact x Nightline: Diddy: Drugs Lies & ‘Freak Offs episode focuses on the many allegations of sexual assault and abuse made against Diddy, and federal charges for racketeering and sex trafficking. It also speaks on the heinous hotel footage of Diddy attacking Cassie.

“I can’t unsee that Cassie video,” Martinez spoke of the clip. “You can tell me whatever you want about him, but I can’t unsee that video. She helped others to feel like they can come forward and that’s huge, because you put yourself on the line.”

Impact x Nightline: Diddy: Drugs Lies & ‘Freak Offs’ is streaming now on Hulu.
