Nicki Minaj Says She Felt “Subhuman” During Arrest In Netherlands
Nicki Minaj feels she was treated as “subhuman” while being arrested in the Netherlands on drug charges this past weekend.
During an appearance on Stationhead, Nicki Minaj expressed her anger and disappointment over her run-in with Dutch police while being detained after marijuana was allegedly found in her luggage. According to the Queens native, she was forced to cancel a date on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour as a result of the incident, which occurred on Saturday (May 25).
“Not being able to get to Manchester, I don’t know when was the last time I felt that low,” the hitmaker said of the nixed show. Minaj went on to attribute her arrest to racial discrimination, deeming the Dutch authorities’ treatment as “disgusting,” adding, “Not only that, but knowing that something is being done to you on purpose simply because you are a confident other race. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”
However, some felt that Minaj was being overly critical of police in the Netherlands and should accept the consequence of allegedly attempting to transport upwards of three dozen pre-rolled marijuana joints outside of the country.
Minaj was arrested on suspiction of exporting soft drugs for the marijuana in her luggage, which she allegedly claimed belonged to a member of her security team. The rapper was released from custody after consulting with the nation’s Public Prosecution Service and paying a fine of 350 euros, the equivalent of $378.45USD.
The rapper would be released in time to perform at her next show at Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, UK the following day. Minaj currently has five remaining tour dates on the first leg of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, including Paris, Amsterdam, and two stops in Germany. She has since rescheduled her cancelled concert in Manchester for Monday, June 3, news she shared with her fans on social media following her release.
