Megan Thee Stallion Talks Dating Fellow Aquarian Klay Thompson At Foundation Gala

Megan Thee Stallion is proving once again that she’s more than just bars and bawdy; she’s got a heart of gold.
On Wednesday night (July 16), the three-time Grammy winner traded in her signature hot girl antics for a night of philanthropy as she hosted her first-ever Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala at Gotham Hall in New York City.
The star-studded affair wasn’t just about rubbing elbows with her celebrity peers; it was about raising money for serious causes. Megan launched the Pete & Thomas Foundation in honor of her late parents, Holly Thomas and Joseph Pete III, with a mission rooted in education, housing, health, and wellness for underserved communities. By the end of the evening, the gala raised over $1,200,000 to fund programs designed to uplift women, children, senior citizens, and anyone in need of a helping hand.

When speaking with VIBE about why it was vital for her to turn advocacy into action, Megan beamed, “Because I feel like if you talk about it, you gotta be about it.” She added, “Like I’ve been a person who’s been in the predicament before where I needed some help, and I really have wished that somebody could help me out. So when I got the opportunity to be blessed, I wanted to bless others.”
The guest list included the who’s who of entertainment and culture, such as Taraji P. Henson, who hosted the evening, Lil Uzi Vert, and DJ D-Nice, who provided the sounds. Muni Long also performed. Angie Martinez, Tamika Mallory, Mysonne, and more showed up in support. Community leaders, including Melba’s Restaurant founder Melba Wilson and Sei Less founder Dara Mirjahangiry, were also in the building.
The auction, hosted by Harry Santa-Olalla, added another layer of excitement. Klay Thompson, who officially made his debut as Megan’s man on the black carpet, threw down a cool $50,000 for two tickets to Super Bowl LX. Lil Uzi Vert wasn’t about to be outdone and dropped $30,000 on an Eliantte bracelet. Fat Joe secured a $26,000 bid for a private dinner for ten at Melba’s Restaurant. In true Hip-Hop fashion, they made it rain but for the right reasons.

Megan also took time to honor changemakers who’ve been doing the work in their communities long before the gala came about. Bread of Life Inc. founders Pastors Juanita and Rudy Rasmus, Southern Black Girls & Women’s Consortium founder LaTosha Brown, and MH Boxes founder Mila Henry were all recognized for their impact and service.
Of course, the night wouldn’t be complete without a little tea, and Megan served it with a smile when asked about her and her NBA beau’s budding romance. The couple shares the same zodiac sign (Aquarius), which had us wondering about their relationship dynamic. Megan laughed, “I didn’t know how it was gonna work at first, but this is probably the best move I ever made, yes.”
