Kodak Black Facing Lawsuit Over 2022 Super Bowl Party Shooting

Kodak Black has been named in a lawsuit regarding a 2022 shooting that left multiple people, including himself, injured.

According to Complex, Mark Schaefer and Adam Rahman were shot as they attended a Super Bowl Party hosted by Justin Bieber in Los Angeles that erupted in gunfire. Schaefer and Rahman claim that the Florida rapper initiated the violent incident that resulted in bullets. The “No Flockin’” performer was also shot in the leg during the altercation. Bieber, as well as the venue The Nice Guy, were previously named in the lawsuit.

In the litigation, Rahman and Shaefer seek $10.6 million in damages. During a court hearing on Wednesday (Aug. 6), their attorney informed the court that Kodak was the only remaining defendant and should be found “in default” because he failed to respond to the complaint, per Complex. The judge denied and said Schaefer and Rahman did not provide sufficient proof of damages, and gave an Aug. 25 deadline to resubmit their request.

Kodak Black’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, informed TMZ Hip-Hop, “We are not paying them a thing — it’s us who are the victim of a legal assault by these two people.” He also continued to claim that they were not aware of the lawsuit and were not properly served.

“They allege Kodak initiated the altercation that led to the shooting? There is video evidence that shows Kodak running to the scene of a fight to help people getting beat up when the gunfire starts. Kodak gets shot, so they are suing the man who got shot? I don’t understand the lawsuit,” detailed Cohen.

Attendees at the party where the initial incident occured included Drake, Lil Baby, Gunna, Jeff Bezos, Lauren Sánchez, Khloe Kardashian, and more. At the time, Cohen spoke out about the proximity of the 28-year-old to the parties allegedly responsible for the melee.

“There was an unprovoked attack on an individual Kodak was with, when security and Kodak came to his aid. Several shots were fired at them by an unidentified assailant,” explained Cohen’s statement. “Luckily, this was all caught on video. Kodak was struck in the leg. It was not life-threatening, he will make a full recovery and he is in stable condition.”
