Kid Cudi Reveals Final Straw In Broken Relationship With Ye: “He Said Some Things That There’s Just No Coming Back From”

Ye has lost many friends in the last few years, and Kid Cudi is one of the most notable. The 41-year-old recently revealed the final straw that made their long-standing collaborative relationship irreparable.

“It’s a sad thing,” he said during a Wednesday appearance on CBS Mornings (Aug. 13). “The freedom that we experienced when we were creating, it just will never happen ever again. That is the heartbreaking side of things. I had a lot of things in my life break my heart, and I’ve been able to survive and move past it.” For Cudi, the artist formerly known as Kanye West continually hurt him, but it was his comments about the late Virgil Abloh that solidified things for him.

“He said some things that there’s just no coming back from,” the Cleveland artist added. “The comments that he’s had about Virgil Abloh are just some of the most evil, vile, disturbing, f**ked up things I’ve heard.” This past February, the Chicago producer tweeted “f**k Virgil” and called out anyone whom he mentored who allegedly “used” him and then “turned” on him.

“Every time he took a dig at Virgil, it just made me super angry,” Cudi said. “Virgil was an angel to everyone. There’s no coming back from that, man. Like, I’m done with you, and it breaks my heart because I loved Kanye.”

Abloh passed away in November 2021 after a two-year battle with cardiac angiosarcoma. He was a longtime friend of Ye’s, working alongside him during the 808s & Heartbreak era. West admitted to being jealous when the designer was appointed to a role in Louis Vuitton, even though Abloh openly expressed that he drew influence from the polarizing artist.

As for Cudi, he and Ye worked together musically for over a decade. They even formed the duo Kids See Ghosts and released their eponymous joint album in 2018. Listen below.
