Kehlani’s Ex, Javaughn Young-White, Seeking Full Custody Of Their Daughter
In March 2019, Kehlani and Javaughn Young-White welcomed their daughter, Adeya Nomi, into the world.
The singer gushed over the birth, writing in a since-deleted Instagram post, “This weekend our angel arrived healthy and perfect in every way in our bathroom at home. Unmedicated home birth was the absolute hardest yet most powerful thing I’ve ever done.” On his own (now-deleted post), Young-White added, “in that moment…we came face to face with beauty, arm in arm with God.”
Fast-forward five years, and it seems that things aren’t copacetic with the former couple. Per TMZ, he is seeking full custody of their daughter, claiming that Kehlani is in a cult and it is “influencing how [Kehlani] raises [Adeya].”
Page Six reported that Young-White stated in his petition that his name isn’t listed on their daughter’s birth certificate because Kehlani’s home birth was “orchestrated by what I would describe as a cult.”
Court documents read, “For the past five years, I have requested a copy of Adeya’s birth certificate and for my name to be added to her birth certificate to no avail.” He also claims that he isn’t sure if Adeya has a social security number “based on [Kehlani’s] actions and behavior.”
Young-White accused the alleged cult leader, Neto, of convincing Kehlani that he had a vision about Young-White being a “danger” to their daughter, causing him to be “banned” from seeing her. “Based on this ‘vision’ by her cult leader, Respondent prevented me from seeing our daughter for months,” read the petition, that also alleged Neto has “numerous accusations of committing sexual assault against women and young girls.”
The 27-year-old artist shared, “When I discovered this on her birthday in 2023, I was physically restrained and threatened by members of the ‘cult’ when I attempted to retrieve our daughter.” Young-White further accused alleged members of said “cult” of often being left alone with Adeya.
He’s seeking full custody and child support due to the “huge difference” in his and Kehlani’s respective incomes. In since-deleted tweets, Young-White claimed he had to “act like I was a gay sperm donor to protect [Kehlani] from the fake lesbian allegations,” but said he never identified as gay or bi-sexual.
The While We Wait singer dated Young-White from 2018 through 2019 before they began dating YG later that year. They came out as a lesbian in 2021.
Kehlani has not responded to the recent report, but VIBE did reach out to a rep for comment.
