Kehlani Is Offering Free Laundry Service To Single Mothers In Honor Of “Folded” Success

In honor of Kehlani‘s popular R&B ballad “Folded,” the singer is holding an event called “Nini’s Fluff & Fold,” where she’s offering free laundry services to single mothers.

Announcing the philanthropic event on Instagram, Kehlani wrote, “growing up i knew how hard it was for all the single mamas in my family to get the tasks done on top of it all. clean clothes is a basic necessity. i got yall. thank you @engagecurrent for sponsoring this initiative, and my brother @city.james for such an incredible idea. AS A THANK YOU FOR SENDING THIS SONG OVER THE MOON! i love you mommy’s. you deserve the world.”

The “Fluff & Fold” events will take place on Saturday (Aug. 9) from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. local time in the cities of Los Angeles, Oakland, Charlotte, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington, D.C. and New York City. The “first come, first serve” event also made sure to note that it is a “giveback, not a gathering” and the Grammy-nominated singer “will not be present.”

Kehlani is a mom, herself, to a daughter named Adeya Nomi Parrish Young-White who was born in March 2019. Other mothers, and fans in general, shared their gratitude for the event in her comment section.

“I love you and your heart, queen” wrote one person as another got candid, adding, “bro got me sobbing 10am. I have so so many memories as a kid being with my momma at laundry mats. Saving up all the change and quarters we could find. This is so beautiful, especially with back 2 school coming up.”

A third person wrote: “I was raised by a single mom and was a single mom to my son. This is beautiful. I don’t need these services but so happy to see marginalized communities getting access and their needs met. Thank you, @kehlani.”

The initiative continues to play on the “laundry” theme of her song, following the music video that sees her running a dry cleaning business.

She sings, “So can you come pick up your clothes? I have them folded/ Meet me at the door while it’s still open/ I know it’s getting cold out, but it’s not frozen/ So come pick up your clothes I have them folded.”
