Kanye West Labeled “Enemy Of Ukraine” Following Moscow Visit Amid Ongoing War

Kanye West is known for controversial decisions and recently took his polarizing disposition internationally. The 47-year-old rapper was named an “enemy of Ukraine” after a recent trip to Moscow.

Ye visited Moscow to celebrate the birthday of Gosha Rubchinsky, one of the fashion designers for Yeezy. The problem was that he did so amid Russian and Ukraine’s ongoing war which began with the invasion in February 2022. Now, his name shows up on Myrotvorets, a website set up by Ukrainian politician George Tuka. Its purpose is to list people who “have signs of crimes against the national security of Ukraine, peace, human security, and the international law.”

The Chicago producer’s description on the website, translated to English, says, “Propaganda of war. Visit to the capital of the occupiers during the invasion of the sovereign territory of Ukraine. The money spent by Ye in the so-called Moscow by taxes will be spent on the murder of civilians of Ukraine. Hidden support for aggression and murder of civilians of Ukraine.” He joins the likes of boxing legend Roy Jones Jr., former Pink Floyd member Roger Waters, and actor Steven Seagal.

Much like anything Kanye West does, his trip to Moscow was a big deal. A slew of fans gathered outside of his hotel to try and meet him. He had been seen spending time on a yacht at one point and taking the Moscow Metro in another instance. There were rumors that he planned to host a large concert, though that has yet to come to fruition nor be confirmed by himself or the Moscow government. There was another rumor that he intended to meet with President Vladimir Putin but no evidence of said meeting has surfaced on the internet.

This meeting would not be a shock, though, as Ye has previously compared himself to the Russian politician. “Culture is an oil,” he told Drink Champs in 2022. “Culture is an energy, and I’m the king of culture for the past 20 and the next 2,000 years.” He also referred to himself as “Young Putin.”

West has also been handed a few lawsuits over the last few months. Lauren Pisciotta, his former assistant, claims that he masturbated in front of her. Most recently, he was accused of creating a hostile work environment and calling his employees “new slaves.”
