Jim Jones Avoids Charges For Viral Miami Airport Fight
Jim Jones was seemingly about to get himself on the no-fly list after fighting at a Miami airport earlier this month, but he got lucky. AllHipHop reported that the Dipset racer will not be facing any charges.
Footage showed the Harlem rapper scuffling with two men on an escalator at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The “We Fly High” rapper claimed that tension began when he attempted to grab his luggage from the overhead compartment in first class before the plane stopped, leading to one of the men confronting and pushing him. The second man got involved as he did not like how Jones spoke to the initial complainer, leading to a tense interaction on the escalator.
As the fight broke out and was later broken up, one of the men walked away bloodied and many believed that Capo would face legal action for his part in the fight. However, Jones claimed that he acted in self-defense and authorities confirmed this via footage. Additionally, neither of the men he fought wanted to press charges, per a report from TMZ.
Jim Jones is no stranger to brawls, whether physically or lyrically. Last year, he and Pusha T sent shots at one another after Jones claimed Push wasn’t a top 50 rapper and heavily praised Drake. “Could you name five Pusha T records?” he asked during a visit to The Breakfast Club. “Could you name five Pusha T records? No. Could you rap to five Pusha T records?”
“Shoutout to Pusha T, I love your soul,” he said later on. “You my dawg. You not in my top 50. You might be in Charlamagne’s top 50 and things like that, but you haven’t done that much for me in my life. I never wanted to be like Pusha, I never had a Pusha moment in my life. Where I’m from, ni**as wanted to be like you if you was really that dude as a rapper.”
The Virginia rapper answered by previewing a track with his Clipse brethren Malice during a Louis Vuitton show in Paris. “Beware of my name, that there’s delegate/ You know I know where you’re delicate/ Crush you to pieces, I’ll hum a breath of it/ I will close your heaven for the hell of it/ You think it’d be valor amongst veterans/ I’m watching your fame escape relevance/ We all in a room but here’s the elephant/ You chasing a feature out of your element,” he rapped.
Outside of the verbal jousting, Jim Jones has been on a strong run of releases over the last few years. He provided his spin on holiday cheer in December 2023 with Jim Jones Presents: 12 Days Of Xmas Deluxe, which came out one year after the original version. Two months prior, he released Jim Jones Presents Byrdgang 2.0.
Last March, he linked up with Hitmaka for the collaborative effort Back In My Prime with features from Benny The Butcher, Ty Dolla $ign, Jeremih, and more. Some may believe he is chasing the Drake feature, but Capo’s been keen on showing what he can do without it.
