Jennifer Lopez Says She Does Not Regret Ben Affleck Split “For One Second”
Jennifer Lopez is not looking back.
The actress discussed a recent life-altering experience with comedian Nikki Glaser in a conversation for Interview Magazine. In the discussion, the two explored a recent “pain” experienced by Lopez. While her split from longtime romance Ben Affleck is not explicitly named, the pop star detailed how the event was an overdue lesson.
“Not one second,” shares the 55-year-old after Glaser asserts. “The pain you just went through, you do not regret.”
Lopez continued, “That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did. But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, “F**k, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, God. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it. You had to hit me really hard over the head with a f**king sledgehammer. You dropped the house on me. Don’t have to do it again.”
The “Get Right” performer went further, elaborating, “I finally got it! And by the way, that doesn’t mean I have everything figured out. Now I’m excited, when you say you’re just going to be on your own. Yes, I’m not looking for anybody, because everything that I’ve done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f**king do when it’s just me flying on my own.”
Affleck and Lopez first dated for two years before breaking off their engagement in 2004. The couple reconciled in 2021 and were married in 2022 before she filed for divorce earlier this year.
Amid the drama, a source told PEOPLE magazine that Jenny From The Block “did spend a lot of time making sure Ben was happy and had everything he needed,” continuing, “The way she cared for him was almost childlike… Friends constantly reminded her that she’s not responsible for his feelings. He’s very moody and dark at times. Jennifer appreciates life in another way. She’s very grateful for everything.”
