Jamie Foxx Shares Emotional Birthday Tribute To Sister Who “Saved His Life”
Jamie Foxx continues to show his gratitude and love for his sister, Deidre Dixon.
On Thursday (Aug. 1), the Hollywood star wrote a heartfelt birthday tribute to his sibling, celebrating her special day and taking time to thank her again for “saving his life.”
According to Foxx, Deidre and his daughter, Corinne, were pivotal parts of his survival following his medical scare last year.
“Yooooooooooo super big big big happy happy happy happy birthday to my wonderful sister Deidra Dixon!!!!,” he wrote beneath a video montage of him and Deidre dancing, sharing drinks and more. “You are amazing you are my light you saved my life. I repeat you saved my life!!!!!! I am forever grateful for you and today.”
“I want you to turn up and enjoy. You are the best little Leo, real tears in my eyes right now I love you to the moon and back.!!! @frequency11,” he concluded with heart emojis.
Last month, Foxx finally shared more more details about his mysterious medical emergency that occurred in April 2023 amid him filming the Netflix film, Back In Action.
“Look, April 11 last year, bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil [and] I was gone for 20 days,” he explained to a group of restaurant patrons. Snapping his fingers, he added, “I don’t remember anything. I’m in Atlanta, they told me my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor.”
“The next doctor said, ‘There’s something going on up there,’” he further explained while pointing to his head. “I won’t say it on camera… but it was,” he said.
The 56-year-old made his first public appearance in December 2023 at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema and Television, and vaguely addressed what happened to him.
“I couldn’t do that six months ago, I couldn’t actually walk to [the stage]. And I’m not a clone, I’m not a clone. I know a lot of people saying that I was cloned out there,” he jokingly said at the time. “It feels good to be here. I cherish every single minute now, it’s different.”
He added, “I wouldn’t wish what I went though on my worst enemy because it’s tough when it’s almost over, when you see the tunnel. I saw the tunnel, I didn’t see the light. It was hot in that tunnel, too, I don’t know where I was going. ‘Sh*t, am I going to the right place?’”
Just in May of this year, Foxx accepted the Producers Award at the African American Film Critics Honors, and expressed he would explain his health scare one day, “his way.”
“Everybody wants to know what happened, and I’m going to tell you what happened, but I gotta do it my way,” he asserted to the audience. “I’m going to do it in a funny way. I’m going to be on stage. We’re going back to the stand-up sort of roots.”
