Halle Berry Shares Carefree Response To Ex-Husband David Justice

Halle Berry shared a timely social media post after her ex-husband, David Justice, went on a podcast and discussed their brief marriage. In his reflection, the former MLB player claimed the actress did not “really seem, like, motherly,” as he explained why the couple ended up divorcing. Without naming him, Halle Berry shared photos and clips across her online platform with a simple yet effective caption.

“Phew,” she exclaimed. “cooking, cleaning and mothering.”

In the post on X, she shared a photo of herself and her current boyfriend, Van Hunt, in bed while on vacation. The Instagram upload featured the same image, as well as additional snaps from the birthday getaway, including a card from her child labeled “mom,” and various pictures from the tropical destination.

In his remarks, made on Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson’s All the Smoke, Justice went deep into the side of him and Berry’s past relationship. They were married from 1993 to 1997.

“She asked me to marry her after knowing me for five months,” he revealed. “I said okay, because I couldn’t say no… I said okay, I don’t know if my heart was really into it, but I didn’t want to make her feel bad and say no, you know, or [if] I was just in the moment.”

“My knowledge and my understanding, my wisdom around relationships just wasn’t vast… I’m looking at my mom — and I’m a Midwest guy. So, in my mind, I’m thinking a wife, at that time, should cook, clean… and then I’m thinking, ‘OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?’ At that time, as a young guy — she don’t cook, don’t clean, don’t really seem like motherly, and then we start having issues.”

Justice went on to marry his second wife, Rebecca, in 2021. Together, they share three children.

The acclaimed actress has been locked in with musician Van Hunt for five years, and earlier this year, he confessed that a proposal was on the table, pending a “yes” from the Monster’s Ball star.

“Well, I’ve been married three times. Van has been married once, and so no, we don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don’t,” relayed Berry regarding the potential engagement.

“But I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married,” Berry added. “And I feel like I should, we should get married, but it’s not because we feel like we have to. I think it’s something that we would like to do just because we want that expression.”
