Gillie Da Kid Roasts “Corny” Cam Newton Over Jalen Hurts Take: “He Did What You Couldn’t Do”

When it comes to Philadelphia Eagles pride, Gillie is the biggest champion of the team. Recently he made that crystal clear to NFL MVP Cam Newton, when the athlete-turned-podcaster compared his own football career to the two-time Super Bowl quarterback, Jalen Hurts.

It began when Gillie reacted to Newton’s take that Hurts is not a Top 10 quarterback in the league, and responded on his Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast. He pointed out that the Eagles QB already did something Newton never could do: win a Super Bowl. Although Newton made it to the Super Bowl with the Carolina Panthers in 2016, he left ringless.

Newton, in response, called out Gillie’s music career as a rapper, saying none of his songs are memorable. “I got a question to ask, can you name one Gillie Da Kid album? Can you quote any of his music?” he trolled.

In a video, Gillie responded, “A good day, Cam Newton. I seen you came at me because I said Jalen Hurts did what you couldn’t do… win a Super Bowl. So you wanna get all in your feelings? Man, shut your tight jeans wearin’ a** up. You had on a jersey with a bow tie, you corny a** ni**a!”

The rapper-turned-podcaster continued his roast by listing Newton’s missed accolades: “What you do? Win MVP? Win a Super Bowl? Win the Super Bowl MVP? And you hating on him? ‘Cause he did what you couldn’t do. You wasn’t better than him.”

Speaking of Newton’s jabs about his music career, Gillie clapped back with, “You talk about me, can you name one of my albums? You ain’t gotta be able to name of my albums, ni**a. F**k wrong with you? You in my space, you ain’t bigger than me in this space, ni**a. You a little a** boy in this space, ni**a… Lets be for real. You out for clout chasing man.”

Jalen Hurts hasn’t responded, but the internet certainly did.

“Gillie just said what everyone was thinking about Cam for years. About time someone checked his ego,” wrote one X user as another said, “Cam still ain’t get back for that one time. Point of being a quarterback is to lead your team to victory. You can throw the ball 100 yards deep. If you ain’t win that ring do we really care.” One person claimed, “Cam woulda won with that eagles team and hurts woulda jumped on this ball.”

A few others sided with Newton. One person commented, “Cam Newton was absolutely better than Jalen Hurts btw.” Another person remarked, “Even Jalen Hurts knows he ain’t better than Cam Newton.”
