Flavor Flav Honored With Red Lobster Meal Deal After Trying To Save Franchise From Bankruptcy
Flavor Flav couldn’t let Red Lobster fall by the wayside in the face of bankruptcy and they are paying back his efforts in a major way. The franchise has honored the 65-year-old rapper with his own signature meal.
This past Monday, Red Lobster announced the new Flavor Flav’s Faves meal. It is composed of Maine Lobster Tail, Snow Crab Legs, Garlic Shrimp Scampi, Bacon Mac & Cheese, and a choice of a side. “As a long-time Red Lobster fan, I’m fired up to bring a little bit of my own flavor to fans with a meal featuring my seafood favorites,” the Public Enemy founder member said of the collaboration. “You gotta get to Red Lobster and give it a try because this signature meal is hype, boy!”
In May, the popular establishment announced that it was going to close down due to bankruptcy. The Flavor Of Love actor took it upon himself to ensure that wouldn’t happen by purchasing the entire menu of food on numerous occasions. “Ya boy said he wuz gonna do everything to help Red Lobster and save the Cheddar Bay Biscuits,,, ordered the whole menu,” he wrote in an Instagram post in June.
Flavor Flav’s giving mood extended beyond the culinary industry. In May, he agreed to sponsor the United States women’s water polo team as they prepare to compete for their fourth consecutive gold medal in the Paris Olympics.
Maggie Steffans, a multi-time gold medalist in women’s water polo, expressed her excitement about competing this summer and acknowledged the team doesn’t get a lot of support; Flav decided to change that by becoming their hypeman.
“When I come out and I watch this water polo team… ‘USA! USA!’” he told AP. “Yo, I’m going to be the biggest hype man that they ever had in their life. I’m going to be bigger than any cheerleader that they had in their life. I’m going to cheer this team on, and I’m going to cheer this team into winning a gold medal.”
