Flava Flav Offers To Make Jordan Chiles A Bronze Clock Necklace Amid Medal Controversy
Jordan Chiles‘ bronze medal controversy has garnered her a ton of support, from USA gymnastics fans, celebrities, teammates Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee, and beyond. Flava Flav is the latest to offer some words of support as we await the verdict of the appeal, and he has an offer that no one else can beat.
After hearing that Chiles’ medal might be stripped from her, the Long Island emcee hopped on X to deliver an extra special message. Ayyy YOOOO @ChilesJordan,,, imma make you a BRONZE CLOCK NECKLACE,” he wrote. “And that’s something NO ONE else has,!!! Hit me up my girl,,, I gotchu,!!!” He also attached a gif of him decked out in red, white, and blue as he cheered Team USA from the stands.
Chiles won her spot on the podium last Monday (Aug. 5) after her coach submitted an inquiry about her floor routine score. Her original score was 13.666, which placed her fifth, but after the inquiry, her score was bumped up to 13.766, landing her at third. However, the Romanian Gymnastics Federation filed a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport and said Chiles’ inquiry was made after the one-minute deadline. This would result in Chiles having to return her bronze medal.
However, the USA Gymnastics team isn’t going down without a fight, as they appealed the decision on Aug. 11 by submitting video evidence that shows Coach Cecile Landi’s request to file an inquiry was made within 47 seconds of Chiles’ score being published. A decision on the appeal has not been made as of publication.
Flav has consistently had a generous spirit throughout the 2024 Paris Olympics, as he also paid Olympian Veronica Fraley’s rent and sponsored the US women’s water polo team.
He previously spoke with NPR about the latter, detailing, “And when the women aren’t in the water playing water polo and everything, you know, they’re home, working active jobs – one, two and three jobs. These girls are out here busting their butt to make the United States look good. So when they’re out here playing and practicing, it takes them away from their work. So I said to myself, why not step in and try to help these girls out?”
