Erica Banks Shuts Down Comparisons To Any Other Women Rappers After GloRilla Claims

Erica Banks is setting the record straight and shutting down the comparisons once and for all. On Thursday (April 23), the “Buss It” rhymer took to X to reject accusations that she’s trying to mimic other women rappers.
“I don’t sound like anyone,” she wrote. “I hate when y’all say that. If you’ve been listening to my music since 2020, you know I’ve always had my own sound. Please just love on your favorite artist without forcing the thought of me sounding like them or anyone else.”
The message came after various posts on X compared Erica’s rapping style to that of GloRilla, especially after she dropped a snippet of her new track “On His Face.” As fans flooded the comments, many pointed out the similarities, and Erica quickly reminded them that she’s uniquely her own artist.
One X user came to her defense with the remark, “Quotes saying she rapping like Glorilla when she’s been rapping in this same voice since 2021 when she switched it up…” as another user said, “It’s not her voice that sounds like Glo, it’s her cadence…this sounds like a revision of ‘Tomorrow.’”
A third person added, “So first she was sounding like Megan and now she sound like Glo…. I f**ks whit the music though.”
This, however, isn’t the first time Banks has been compared to sounding like her musical counterparts. In a 2024 interview, she leaned into comparisons to former labelmate Megan Thee Stallion. At the time, Erica dropped her “I Think I Love Em” freestyle over Gucci Mane’s “I Think I Love Her” beat, which Megan also previously rapped over for her #MeganMonday freestyle.
When asked about a pinned comment on her Instagram that suggested Megan was ready to go “freestyle for freestyle,” Erica fired back, quoting Nicki Minaj to make her point: “Everybody can do a freestyle on whatever beat they choose, but it’s a big difference between me and you.”
Much like Thee Stallion, Erica parted ways with 1501 Certified Entertainment in June 2023, the same label that Megan battled for years to get out of.
