Eminem Announces His New Role As A Grandpa In Latest Video: Watch
Eminem is adding a new title to his accomplishments and this time, it’s personal.
The Detroit legend revealed that his daughter, Hailie Jade, was expecting her first child on Thursday (Oct. 3) in the form of a new music video for his single, “Temporary.”
The touching visual was composed of several home videos of young Hailie and intimate father-daughter moments from her wedding. There’s also a video clip of Hailie gifting her father a blue football jersey with “Grandpa” embroidered on the back.
Hailie got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Evan McClintock back in February 2023. They dated for six years after meeting at Michigan State University in 2016.
When Slim Shady first released his new music, Hailie recalled having an emotional reaction to “Temporary” and “Somebody Save Me.” On the latter, Eminem apologized to the 28-year-old for choosing drugs over his children. “The ‘Somebody Save Me’ music video is out, and I did watch it in entirety and I don’t think I can do it again. I definitely cried,” she explained on her podcast.
Hailie added, “Between that and ‘Temporary’ […] I can’t. I audibly sobbed, I think for both songs, but especially ‘Temporary.’”
She did confess that her parents did a good job of shielding their personal struggles from her in her childhood.
“Now, as an adult in hindsight, it’s so scary to think about,” Hailie noted. “I think that’s why I get emotional so much. Just thinking that [Eminem dying] could have happened and that’s how I feel about it […] It’s fun to see clips of us from when we were younger like that. Even ‘Mockingbird.’ But I can’t listen to that anymore without crying. The older I get, the less I can listen to any of the songs.”
