Chris Rock Hints That He’s Open To Hosting The Oscars Again

Chris Rock has seemingly remained open to hosting the Academy Awards in the future, if given the opportunity.

While speaking with E! News at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, when asked if he would ever consider hosting the award show again, Rock gave a candid, but vieled response: “You never know.”

He further elaborated on his reasoning for a return, pointing to his personal maturation and growth as reasons for him being able to move forward and not live in the past.

“The most miserable people on earth are people that can’t forgive,” Rock shared, adding, “And not just people, you have to forgive yourself sometimes. So, hey, you never know.”

The 2022 Oscars became a historic event for all the wrong reasons when Will Smith, upset by a joke Rock made about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, walked onto the stage and slapped the comedian.

The moment shocked viewers worldwide and led to a significant fallout, with Smith eventually being banned from the Academy Awards for 10 years.

Despite the intense aftermath, Rock has remained resolute in his approach to forgiveness. When asked if he had grown in his ability to forgive over time, Rock responded by saying, “I live in forgiveness.”

With these words, Rock hinted that while the Oscars slap will remain a defining moment of his career, it hasn’t tainted his willingness to embrace new opportunities, including the chance to host the prestigious event again.

However, whether or not he will return remains to be seen—but, the door is open for now.
