Chris Brown Pleads Not Guilty To Assault Charge During UK Court Appearance

Chris Brown has plead not guilty to the charge of assault causing actual bodily harm based on an alleged attack in a London night club in 2023.

The “Residuals” singer, 36, appeared at London’s Southwark Crown Court Friday (July 11), according to Reuters, where he only spoke to confirm his name and enter his plea on the aforementioned charge, as well as a plea of not guilty on the charge of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place. Omololu Akinlolum, Brown’s co-defendant, also entered a not guilty plea on the charge of causing actual bodily harm, having previously denied attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm.

Last month, Brown denied the more serious charge of attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm.

Brown is accused of attacking music producer Abe Diaw with a bottle of alcohol at Tape nightclub in London in February 2023. In October of that year, Diaw filed a lawsuit accusing Brown of using the bottle to hit him with “crushing blows.” His lawsuit, however, has since been dismissed with prejudice.

The father of three was arrested at a hotel in Manchester in May after returning to Britain for the first time since the alleged incident for his Breezy Bowl Tour. He was later released on $6.7 million bail.

Brown’s trial is due to begin October 26, 2026. See photos of Brown attending court in the UK below.
