Chaka Khan, Jesseca Harris-Dupart, Derek J, And More To Be Honored At Inaugural Beauty Icon Awards

Bronner Bros., in partnership with Vivace and Red by KISS, will put Black beauty on full display and recognize its pioneers this fall, with the launch of the inaugural Beauty Icon Awards.

Set for Saturday (Oct. 11) at the Bronner Center of Performing Arts in Atlanta, the red-carpet event will transform into what organizers describe as a “live museum of beauty.” Hosted by journalist and media personality Segun Oduolowu, the event aims to become the next staple in the beauty world where legends and trailblazers coexist under one roof.

As for the honorees, 10-time Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Chaka Khan will be presented with the Beauty Icon Award for a career that has empowered generations beyond her music.

“Honoring Chaka Khan with the Beauty Icon Award feels natural. Her music and presence have empowered generations, while her fearless style redefined beauty on her own terms. She is the embodiment of a beauty icon,” stated Kelly Keith, the event’s executive producer.

The night will also shine a spotlight on a lineup of innovators who’ve each shaped the beauty landscape in their own right.

Honorees include makeup artist and beauty mogul Danessa Myricks, master braider Nastacia “Nas” Brady, Afro Sheen and Ultra Sheen founder George E. Johnson, celebrity hairstylists Terence Davidson and Cliff Vmir, and Bask & Lather CEO Shaina Rainford.

Barber and groomer Sly Huncho, master stylist Kevin Kirk, Jasmine “RazorChic” Collins, acclaimed photographer and director Allen Cooley, and Kaleidoscope Hair founder Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart will also be recognized.
