Cardi B Sued For Assault And Battery Over Microphone Throwing Incident

Cardi B has some litigation on her hands. The 32-year-old rapper is being sued for her 2023 microphone-throwing incident in Las Vegas.

TMZ reports that an unnamed woman has brought forth accusations of assault and battery after being hit by a microphone while the Bronx rapper performed at Drai’s Beachclub. Footage revealed that the woman had thrown a drink at the “Outside” artist, prompting her to retaliate.

The woman claimed that she was throwing water on her to cool her off, much like the other attendees, and the footage supported that. However, rumors circulated that the cup was full of alcohol and ice. This is an interesting update because the woman initially planned to sue Cardi for battery weeks after the incident occurred, but the investigation was dropped. Now, it is a full-fledged lawsuit.

The situation didn’t turn out poorly for all parties. The microphone, which belonged to a company called The Wave, was auctioned off. The proceeds were donated to two nonprofit charities: The Wounded Warrior Project and Friendship Circle Las Vegas. Bids reached up to $99,000 per eBay listing.

Time will tell what comes of this lawsuit and how it impacts Cardi’s rollout for her long-awaited sophomore album, Am I The Drama? Last month, she released her single “Outside,” which debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track is her 13th Billboard top 10 hit, and the first song by a female rapper to debut at No. 1 since her 2024 record “Enough (Miami).”

That track is confirmed to be on the 21-song album, along with her 2020 hit “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion and 2021’s “Up.” These tracks have ensured the album is already eligible for RIAA Platinum certification before its release. Check out the promotional trailer for Am I The Drama? below.
