Bernice Burgos Says She Made Up To $70K Per Night As A Bartender

Bernice Burgos dropped some hustle gems during her recent appearance on the Joe Budden Podcast, and “startenders” could learn a thing or two.

The social media influencer and entrepreneur revealed that during her bartending days at Startlets in New York City, she raked in some major cash—as much as $30,000 on a regular night. But on special occasions, such as her birthday, she would earn up to $70,000.

As that isn’t the case for all mixologists, Bernice admitted that she was playing chess—not checkers—with her customers. The unbelievably 44-year-old explained how she hustled by building “real relationships” with her clientele.

“I make sure I give you the bottles for $250 when they cost $350. So I’m gonna hustle,” she said. “You don’t gotta tip me now. You tip me later, like throwing money. I was smart.”

Bernice also shared that at the start of her bartending career, she already had a plan. She strategically worked three years behind the bar and stacked up her money so she could launch her clothing line, buy a house, and then leave the club—which is exactly what she did.

“I don’t do too much,” she mentioned, alluding to the idea that her sex appeal wasn’t the entire reason why she made racks on racks. “I used to be covered with a whole body suit on.”

Bernice went on to create her booming sleepwear line, Bold & Beautiful, land many brand partnerships, and star on the BET+ reality show The Impact: New York with her daughter Ashley.
