Amanda Seales Rejects Gilbert Arenas’ Claim That She’s Single Because She’s “Too Smart” For A Man
Amanda Seales has responded to Gilbert Arenas‘ opinion that she’s single due to her academic background, as he believes that the actress’ prospect of finding a man with a similar level of education as her are slim.
During the former NBA star’s appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Nightcap podcast, Arenas reacted to Seales’ interview with Sharpe on his Club Shay Shay podcast. While speaking on the episode, which was posted last week and has since gone viral, Arenas gave his take on why the Florida native remains single.
“As educated as she is, there’s a standard of a man that she’s looking for. If they’re not on the same education level as her, she’s gonna look down on [him],” the former Washington Wizards guard said of Seales.
“If they’re more educated than her, then they’re talking down to her. So these are the type of women that will typically be single because they can’t find the equal partner to who they are.”
Over the weekend, Seales caught wind of Arenas’ comments, taking to social media to reject his commentary regarding her romantic life. “Why is Gilbert Arenas even talking about me?” the comedian asked her followers. “I’m too smart to find a good man? That’s not even a thing. That’s an unfortunate statement to make.”
Seales went on to reveal that she’s currently dating someone and is in no rush to “find” a man, as she believes she’ll meet her eventual mate organically. “I don’t even know what that’s trying to say about men. And the truth is I’m not trying to find a good man. A good man will find me. I’m talking to somebody right now.”
Seales appearance on Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast has garnered conversation, as the 42-year-old discussed her journey in entertainment, from her time as a child star on Nickelodeon to her time on the HBO series Insecure.
Following the interview, Seales accused Sharpe of “interrogating” her while addressing reactions to her seemingly stating that she had been diagnosed as being on the austim spectrum while on the podcast, which she later denied.
“Shannon: But have you been clinically diagnosed? Me: Yes. There is a clinical diagnosis for Autism,” she wrote while sharing quotes from her and Sharpe’s conversation on her Instagram Story. “He then hung his head and exhaled in frustration because I did not answer his question.”
“That is called deflection,” she said of her response to the NFL Hall of Fame tight end. “Why? Because I was not going to be pressured by this man who was interrogating me with absolutely zero love for me into proving something to him that, by his line of questioning, he had already committed to undermining.”
She concluded her post, adding, “I understand my response may be confusing to some but I am clarifying it. As I did in my Live. And that is enough.”
