BTSM is back with 'Leaders' ft. Alborosie – FUXWITHIT
BTSM is back and better than ever. The Canadian bass-fan favorite are once again stirring up crowds after announcing their third album with the release of the first single, ‘Leaders’, off their own record label, Kannibalen Records.
Black Tiger Sex Machine’s new music and third album has been hotly anticipated by their fans and bass music enthusiasts. Known for infusing bass and electronic music with classic techno or house samples, it comes as no surprise that they dug deep and have cooked up yet another new sound: dubstep and reggae. BTSM have crafted a hybrid of the two, drenched it in bass, and got one of contemporary reggae’s most iconic vocal artists, Alborosie, who is most well known for his hit ‘Kingston Town’ which has a cool 54 million plays on YouTube.
“We did a bit of cratedigging and stumbled upon a 1968 sample from Jamaica’s legendary Studio One. We wanted to find an active MC to complement Al Campbell’s original vocals & melody. Alborosie, known for his massive Kingston Town project, agreed to jumped on it and we’re very happy with the final product!”
‘Leaders’ has a powerful message that echoes BTSM’s iconic post-apocalyptic aesthetic. While past anthems punched up the aggression through bass and synths, ‘Leaders’ has a sultry confidence in its sound. Big bass booms, while the reggae tones whine, and the drops are potent, but it’s really the melody here that creates the irresistible swagger and sway of this reggae-infused dubstep track. This is a unique sound that will both open up a new world of music for those unfamiliar with reggae and its culture, as well as satisfy those music junkies who are hungry to devour classic sounds sewn up in dank bass.
While ‘Leaders’ is now officially released, BTSM has already been playing it at sold out shows. Be sure to catch them including ‘Leaders’ in their sets at Lost Lands, Imagine, and their headliner performance at Red Rocks.
