TroyBoi Perfects His Sound On 'V!BEZ VOL 4' – FUXWITHIT

TroyBoi is truly in a category of his own. Ever since he burst onto the SoundCloud scene in 2014 tagging his music “My Style” he’s been building a sonic signature that’s unmistakable. Transcending genres, TroyBoi’s sound fuses elements of trap, bass, hip hop, world music and more. But it’s much deeper than cross-genre pollination. Troy’s sound is built upon an epic foundation. You can hear a few seconds of a TroyBoi track and immediately know it’s him. From the way he bends vocals, to the stuttered panned percussion fills, to the wickedest bounce each track exudes, the gifted producer has a myriad of subtle calling cards that are distinctly his own. With the release of V!BES VOL 4 his style is perfected.

Spanning 7 distinct tracks, the project explores all facets of TroyBoi’s production expertise. Proving no sample is beyond his ability to flip, ‘Bellz’ takes on an iconic disco record and brings it into 2021 and beyond. Infectious, engrossing, powerful, and irresistibly fun, this one is a certified party-starter. Reminiscent of TroyBoi’s breakout single ‘Afterhours,’ ‘Eyez On Me’ sees the producer once again connecting with Nina Sky. Seductive vocals drift into and over a dizzying trap beat for another crossover smash.

Linking with fellow trap OGs Tropkillaz comes ‘Corneta,’ a no-nonsense trap heater centered around some impeccable brass. This one was crafted for partying under palm trees. ‘Baby’ takes listeners on a ride between hard-hitting and smooth cruising. Catchy vocal loops will be stuck in your head all day and the groove will have you swaying with some serious swag.

If you’re looking for a motivational anthem, look no further than ‘Unstoppable.’ Stirring strings give it an emotional appeal while the vocals breathe what the track’s namesake promises. Flirting with experimental bass sounds without going too far left, this one is beautifully weird.

Winding down expertly come the final two tracks. TroyBoi throws it back to 2015 with the classic ‘On My Own.’ 6 years later and it still feels as enchanting and ahead of its time as it did when it first dropped. Lapping waves, cool keys and deep bass allow fans to drift into the finale that is ‘Clear Waters.’ Guitar riffs switch out with chirping birds and hypnotic vocals for a picturesque pink sunset against clear blue waters vibe. If you ever wondered what TroyBoi’s take on lo-fi might sound like, you now have your answer.

While most producers who reach a certain level of success begin to water down their sound for wider audiences, TroyBoi continues to double down, never losing sight of who he is and what makes him so special. His dedication to being different and constantly innovating is why he keeps getting bigger and better. V!BES VOL 4 is unapologetically TroyBoi and it truly doesn’t get much better than that.
