Chris Gotti Calls Out Ashanti For Not Visiting Him After Irv Gotti’s Death: “That Don’t Feel Right”

Chris Gotti called out Ashanti during a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club on Tuesday (Sept. 30), claiming that the former Murder Inc. artist never reached out after the death of his brother Irv Gotti.
The discussion was sparked by Ashanti’s 2022 interview with Angie Martinez, where she opened up about processing the Murder Inc. boss’ passing.
“I was upset because we haven’t spoke in person after Irv’s passing,” Chris admitted to the co-hosts Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious and Loren Lorosa. “And I promise you, I’m the reason she was Murder Inc. Irv made the records, but Irv would’ve never gotten to that point if I don’t do what I did.”
Chris further expressed that, “for her not to call me after Irv’s passing — she text me — that don’t feel right.” He added, “Her mother, Tina… that don’t feel right. I did everything for them. Never did I get one thing in return.”
Ashanti and Irv have had a rocky relationship since her departure from his music label in 2009.
In a 2024 interview with Drink Champs, Irv confessed to N.O.R.E. that he was once in love with Ashanti, which added more speculation to the nature of their relationship. However, the 44-year-old star has shut down rumors of Irv ever being her boyfriend.
“I could get past you wanting to be with Nelly,” Gotti said in a clip from the interview. “The chick you f**king are in love with, is with this ni**a.” According to Ashanti, she declared, “We dealt with each other, but was Irv my boyfriend? Was I his girlfriend? Never… Irv had several girlfriends, so I’m a little confused by the label and the description.”

Chris also chimed in on their alleged relationship during an appearance on the Let’s Keep it 100 podcast back in May. Calling out Ashanti then, he claimed, “They was in a relationship. I was their therapist. Like come on now, don’t do that. But at the end of the day that’s what makes what went on with them so real.”
His most recent comments on The Breakfast Club garnered many reactions, with some fans agreeing with him and others defending Ashanti.
“I know she’s tired of that family!! Good grief!” one user wrote under The Neighborhood Talk’s repost of TBC interview. Another chimed in, “The whole family obsessed with her. She made a post, sent flowers and her condolences. Leave her tf alone. Death doesn’t equate to the disrespect she was subjected to for years.”
