Fivio Foreign Says He Can’t Recite One Nas Bar

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and narratives, but some often sound ridiculous on the surface. Fivio Foreign recently said that he cannot recite one rap bar from Nas.

The Brooklyn rapper appeared in a clip from Artist2Artist, Jim Jones’ new interview platform, and the two discussed artist that they grew up on and influenced them. “I grew up with ni**as like Sosa, Gino, and I’m not saying that the man is wack, he’s not a legend,” Fivio began. “I got a song with the ni**a. I got a song on the album [King’s Disease] and the album got a Grammy. But I can’t sit there and say a Nas bar to you or a song.”

He clarified that he liked “One Mic,” but doubled down on the fact that he would struggle to list songs from the legendary rapper. Capo chimed in, saying that he could because he grew up in that era of music before he “started a whole new era” and “genre” in Hip-Hop. He then shifted the conversation to asking Foreign about rappers who grew up inspired by or simply liked.

“I was infatuated with Chief Keef,” Fivio said. “Chicago. The sh*t was the sh*t. It was just like, it was crazy. I liked the Meek Mill’s. I loved Dipset. Jim Jones, Juelz Santana.” Foreign is 35 years old, so he was alive and aware for what some would consider Nas’s peak, having grown up in the same city. Nonetheless, this is his story, and he is sticking to it.

Fivi had the opportunity to work with Nas in 2020, appearing on “Spicy” from Esco’s Grammy-winning album King’s Disease. Five years later, he is reconnecting with the music scene after spending over half of this year in jail for threatening a woman with a firearm. He received credit for time served after being in prison for 196 days and now must spend three years on probation.
