Airport Footage Shows Sha’Carri Richardson Shoving Boyfriend Christian Coleman

Surveillance footage from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has surfaced showing Sha’Carri Richardson physically assaulting her boyfriend, track star Christian Coleman. The incident led to the 25-year-old being placed in cuffs.

In the video obtained by TMZ, Richardson could be seen grabbing Coleman’s bag, confronting him face-to-face, and shoving him multiple times, even once pinning him into a wall. Though Coleman attempted to walk away more than once, Richardson pursued him and apparently threw an object in his direction before the argument continued near a TSA checkpoint.

Port of Seattle police responded shortly after the confrontation, but by then, Richardson had left the immediate area. Coleman spoke to officers and reportedly told them the two were in a relationship. He also made it clear he didn’t want to press charges or be considered a victim. Still, police determined there was enough probable cause to arrest Richardson on suspicion of fourth-degree domestic violence assault.

She was taken into custody and held for nearly 19 hours at the SCORE South Correctional Facility in Des Moines, Washington. The case has since been cleared.

The couple made their relationship public this past February, but Coleman revealed to authorities they’d been together for two years. Neither Richardson nor her team has publicly addressed the incident. However, Coleman broke his silence during an interview at the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships, expressing disappointment without condemnation.

“For me personally, I feel like it was a sucky situation all around,” Coleman told Citius Mag. “I don’t feel like she should have been arrested. People have discussions and emotions and stuff like that.”

Despite being listed as the victim in the incident, the world champion stood firmly by Richardson’s side, acknowledging they both have personal growth ahead and emphasizing compassion over judgment. “She has things that she needs to work on for herself, of course. So do I, so do you, so does everybody. But I’m the type of guy who’s in the business of extending grace, and mercy, and love.”

Coleman added that he sees beyond the incident, describing Richardson as a “human being and a great person,” and praising her as “the best female athlete in the world” in his eyes.
