Trump, A Convicted Felon, Posts AI Video Of Barack Obama Being Arrested

Donald Trump shared an AI video from a pro-MAGA TikTok user depicting the arrest of Barack Obama on Sunday (July 20) following his rampage about Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s claims that the Obama administration engaged in a “treasonous conspiracy” to “subvert” Trump from winning the 2016 election.

With The Village People’s “YMCA” playing in the background, the video shows Obama being detained by the FBI while Trump is smiling and then cuts to the former president in an orange jumpsuit and behind bars.

The video also has the phrase, “No one is above the law,” shown, and alt-right mascot Pepe The Frog dressed as a clown.

The Village People were the first to issue a statement about the bizarre video.

“While we don’t want ‘Y.M.C.A.’ to be used for political endorsements of any kind, President Trump merely sharing a video containing our song does not meet the standard for copyright infringement,” the group acknowledged in a statement, PEOPLE reported. “However, we will attempt to find the original person or entity who posted the offensive video featuring President Barack Obama, and have such video taken down as not being endorsed by Village People, nor any of the owners of the copyright.”

The aforementioned video surfaced after Gabbard shared a statement on Friday that accused the Obama administration of attempting to “manufacture” intelligence to aid in a “years long coup against President Trump.”

She reportedly found evidence that Obama and some of his cabinet members “politicized intelligence to lay the groundwork” for said coup. Democrats have since dismissed her claims, calling them baseless and riddled with errors. Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, the top Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, said it was “one more example of the director of national intelligence trying to cook the books.”

An AI photo of Obama and some of his cabinet also surfaced online with right-wing journalist Nick Sortor tweeting, “MAKE THIS A REALITY” and tagging Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Trump was found guilty in May 2024 on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, marking the first time in U.S. history that a former president has been convicted of multiple felonies. He is appealing the verdict, but the Supreme Court has already ruled that sitting presidents have immunity from prosecution.
